“Working in a brothel is a real job with real regulations/rules set by the state and the house, but we’re like entrepreneurs setting our own prices; all negotiations don’t end in bookings, and we have the right to refuse service to any customer,” says Emily Marie.
“Many courtesans get a higher-quality man than in the dating pool and get paid for it. Some people think sex work is immoral and then judge people for buying it. No one would do this work if there wasn’t a demand for it,” says Jade Maxine.
“People think we’re like a one-dimensional character on Law & Order SVU, but we’re real women with real jobs trying to rise above the stigma in the media that has people’s minds already made up about us.
